Accounts Payable Lead Great Barford, Bedfordshire Salary is circa £35,000 plus bonus

Robert Walters is proud to be partnering with a well-established organisation in Great Barford to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Lead. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional to take ownership of the accounts payable function within a supportive and collaborative environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting, improving processes, and building strong internal and external relationships.

The Role

As Accounts Payable Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day purchase ledger function and ensure accurate, timely processing across all accounts payable activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing high volumes of supplier invoices from receipt to payment
  • Matching, coding, and validating invoices accurately
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies promptly
  • Preparing and processing payment runs via BACS, Faster Payments, and card payments
  • Acting as the main point of contact for supplier queries
  • Processing employee expenses in line with policy
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting month-end close processes
  • Reviewing and improving accounts payable procedures and controls
  • Supporting the wider finance team when required

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience within Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end AP processes
  • Experience in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Advanced Excel skills including LOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
  • Sage 50 or similar accounting systems experience (preferred)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

This role is based in Great Barford, Bedfordshire and is predominantly office based. The salary is circa £35,000,plus bonus, pension, free parking, fully stocked kitchen and other company specific benefits.
