Financial Accountant
An established, global, growing energy business is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join its UK finance team in London. This is an opportunity to work in a technically strong environment where you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting compliance activities, and partnering with stakeholders across the wider business.
- Managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and intercompany accounting.
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting the timely completion of reporting deadlines.
- Producing group reporting packs and submissions for both UK and international stakeholders.
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 101/102).
- Supporting external audits, preparing schedules and acting as a key point of contact for auditors.
- Providing insightful analysis of financial performance and explaining key variances to senior stakeholders.
- Partnering with Asset Management and Project Finance teams on asset-level and project accounting matters.
- Researching technical accounting issues and supporting the preparation of accounting position papers.
- Assisting with VAT returns, corporation tax compliance, transfer pricing and payroll-related accounting.
- Supporting process improvements, policy implementation and SAP-based finance operations.
The Ideal Candidate will be
- Qualified Accountant from an audit background
- Experience within energy, infrastructure, utilities, oil and gas (preferable)
- Experience across complex multi-entity environments
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Exposure to VAT, Corporation Tax and wider UK compliance requirements
