Management Accountant

Our client is a fast-growing SME based in Birmingham, who are currently looking for a Management Accountant to join their lean finance function. The role is paying bteween £35-40k and requires 5 days on-site. They are very much open to providing study support after the probation period.

What you'll do:

• Prepare accounts up to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all financial records.
• Manage cashflow forecasting, providing reliable insights that support business planning and decision-making.
• Handle all transactional finance activities including invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and VAT processing.
• Deal with reverse charge VAT requirements efficiently and compliantly, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations.
• Collaborate closely with external accountants to ensure seamless integration of outsourced accounting functions.
• Support audit preparation as the business grows towards meeting audit thresholds, contributing to robust internal controls.
• Work directly with senior management on day-to-day finance operations, receiving guidance and sharing feedback openly.
• Assist in developing internal processes as the company transitions more accounting functions in-house over time.
• Contribute to monthly reporting cycles by preparing schedules, summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Engage proactively with colleagues across departments to share information and foster a communal approach to problem-solving.

What you bring:

• You have experience preparing accounts up to trial balance within a commercial or practice environment.
• Your skills include cashflow forecasting and providing insightful financial analysis for business planning.
• You are comfortable managing all transactional finance activities such as invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and VAT processing.
• You possess knowledge of reverse charge VAT requirements or are willing to learn quickly under guidance.
• You demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills when collaborating with external accountants or internal stakeholders.
