About the Awards
The 2018 Finance Awards promotes and celebrates the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Essex.
The event will be held at the MK Dons DoubleTree in Milton Keynes on Thursday 8th November 2018, where we will celebrate the achievements of the region’s top finance professionals. The Awards also recognise the outstanding local businesses that contribute to the economy and employment across various award categories.

2018 AWARD CRITERIA:
Chief Financial Officer of the Year
This will be awarded to a Chief Financial Officer with a demonstrable legacy of delivering transformation, leadership and an outstanding performance. The winner of this award may have been a pioneer of significant change, made a vital contribution to the leadership of the business and/or led a local finance function that is seen as adding significant value to business.
Senior Finance Leader of the Year
This Award will be presented to a senior finance leader with a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management. The individual must be able to provide examples of providing strategic direction to their company.
Rising Star of the Year
This award is split into two categories, non/part-qualified and qualified.
Presented to the most passionate, driven and delivery focused person in the market. The winner of the non/part qualified and the qualified award will be a finance professional with under 8 years of experience. They must be able to provide examples of high achievement and out-performing their peer group.
Finance Team of the Year
This category is divided into two categories: a team of 20 people or less and a team over 20 people.
The Finance Team of the year will demonstrate excellence in their field, with proven examples of collective successes within the last 12 months. The winning team may have positively impacted the wider business through outstanding achievements in the delivery of projects and encompass an infectious team spirit.
Shared Service Centre of the Year
This award will go to a Northern Home County-based Shared Service Centre and will be measured against strength of processes and people. We will be looking for examples of key achievements around delivery and exemplary customer service.
Mentor of the Year
This award will go to an individual who has acted as a mentor to another finance professional(s), and has developed, coached and inspired their mentee(s). The award recognises the crucial role mentors play in shaping a young person's success and the outstanding support and trust mentors provide young finance professionals, helping them achieve their career goals and aspirations.
Professional Development Scheme of the Year
This will be awarded to the professional development scheme with the strongest track record of achievement. Your business may offer a graduate scheme, apprenticeship, mentoring programme or alternative development scheme for employees. The panel will consider the success of the scheme’s ‘alumni’, breadth of programme’s offered, pass rates, structure and employee reviews when judging.
The winner of this award will demonstrate the successful delivery and or implementation of activities that have led to the betterment of the Business. This can be anything from a Transformation Project or ERP upgrade through to the enhancement of people and their careers or something that improves the overall customer experience.
