Business Manager

A high-achieving school in Bexley is seeking an exceptional School Business Manager to join its leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of its world-class learning community.

As School Business Manager, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), providing strategic leadership across finance, operations, HR, compliance, and estates management. You will ensure the school remains financially sustainable while delivering outstanding support services that enable students and staff to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budget development, and oversight of significant budgets.
• Provide strategic advice to the Headteacher and Trustees on business operations and growth opportunities.
• Manage personnel, payroll administration, pensions, and compliance with safeguarding regulations.
• Oversee facilities management, procurement processes, health & safety compliance, and capital projects.
• Act as Company Secretary to ensure legal compliance and corporate governance standards.
• Line manage administrative teams while fostering teamwork and professional development.
• Develop fund-raising strategies aligned with the school improvement plan.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a proactive leader with:

• An accounting qualification - ACA/ CA/ ACCA is essential.
• Proven experience in senior management roles with strategic operational leadership.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive informed decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Resilience, energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
• Experience in educational settings or familiarity with teacher training sector regulations would be advantageous but is not essential.
