What you'll do:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will become an integral member of a dedicated finance team focused on delivering excellence in every aspect of their work.
- Support the continuous improvement of month-end processes by collaborating with colleagues to identify efficiencies and implement best practices across the finance function.
- Assist with the reconciliation of bank accounts and credit cards on a regular basis, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
- Manage daily order-to-cash reconciliations across multiple payment gateways, maintaining up-to-date records and supporting the integrity of financial data.
- Process invoices efficiently while overseeing purchase order reconciliations to ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time.
- Undertake monthly ad-hoc tasks related to management accounts preparation, contributing to the production of reliable financial reports.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in supplier relationship management by communicating effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Provide support with tax returns by gathering necessary documentation and assisting with compliance requirements.
- Carry out administrative tasks associated with monthly payroll processes, helping ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required by senior members of the finance team or other departments within the business.
- Assist during the annual financial audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor queries, and ensuring all requested information is available.
What you bring:
To excel as an Accounts Assistant in this role, you will bring proven experience gained from at least two years within a busy finance department. Your background should include exposure to key accounting functions such as reconciliations, invoice processing, payroll administration, tax compliance support, and audit preparation. An AAT qualification—or active progress towards one—will demonstrate your dedication to advancing your expertise in accountancy.
- At least two years’ experience working within a finance department equips you with practical knowledge of accounting processes and procedures.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines consistently while collaborating closely with other team members ensures that departmental objectives are achieved efficiently.
- Results-driven approach combined with strong attention to detail enables you to deliver accurate work even under pressure or tight timelines.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—allow you to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels as well as external partners such as suppliers or auditors.
- Familiarity with invoice processing systems helps streamline supplier payments while maintaining robust controls over expenditure.
- Ability to adapt quickly when faced with new challenges or changing priorities reflects your flexible attitude towards work.
