Save job

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Third Party Risk Management Manager to join a highly respected financial services organisation in London. This pivotal role sits within the Operational Risk Management function, providing you with the chance to shape and influence the third party risk landscape across the business.

What you'll do:

As a Third Party Risk Management Manager, you will play an integral part in overseeing the end-to-end third party management process. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with business units to refine methodologies, review key indicators, and support the articulation of comprehensive risk inventories. You will conduct thorough root cause analyses following any identified risk events, ensuring that lessons learned translate into meaningful improvements. By evaluating control effectiveness across technology, information security, resilience, and third party domains, you will help safeguard organisational integrity. Your role also includes facilitating issue identification and resolution through robust corrective action planning. Regular engagement with senior stakeholders ensures that operational risk frameworks remain current and effective. Through your efforts in monitoring adherence to policies and identifying process enhancements, you will contribute significantly to both operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

  • Support ongoing refinements to the third party risk methodology, ensuring risks identified by first line teams are consistently reflected in business unit risk assessments.
  • Review and challenge key risk indicators designed by first line functions, suggesting improvements to enhance their effectiveness and relevance.
  • Assist business units in articulating third party risk and control inventories in accordance with established risk frameworks.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of identified risk events, recommending actionable improvements to prevent recurrence and strengthen controls.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of end-to-end key controls, particularly those related to technology, information security, resilience, and third party management.
  • Facilitate the identification of issues and corrective action plans, reviewing evidence submitted by stakeholders to ensure quality and completeness before closure.
  • Monitor adherence to operational risk management frameworks, developing tools and communicating requirements to promote best practice across the organisation.
  • Engage regularly with key stakeholders and senior management committees to provide updates on framework adherence and emerging risks.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and executive management to maintain robust governance over operational risk activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement that deliver greater operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of compliance.

What you bring:

To excel as a Third Party Risk Management Manager, you will bring substantial experience from either professional services or financial institutions where you have been deeply involved in operational risk disciplines. Your background should include hands-on exposure to third party risk regulations across multiple regions as well as direct involvement in developing or overseeing comprehensive risk frameworks. Your analytical mindset enables you to dissect complex issues methodically while your communication skills allow you to present findings clearly through reports or presentations. Interpersonal strengths such as empathy, collaboration, stakeholder engagement, negotiation prowess, and diplomatic tact are crucial as you interact with colleagues at all levels. A commitment to upholding confidentiality standards underpins your approach while your ability to work autonomously ensures tasks are completed efficiently. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools supports your daily activities; any additional project management capabilities further enhance your suitability for this multifaceted position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or economics or law degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is required for this position.
  • A minimum of 7-8 years’ experience within professional services or financial institutions covering operational risk management is essential.
  • Consultancy background is preffered.
  • Demonstrated expertise in third party risk management regulations across major jurisdictions such as the US, UK, and Europe is required.
  • Proven track record in establishing or overseeing operational risk frameworks aligned with industry best practices and Basel requirements is highly desirable.
  • Experience contributing to large-scale compliance or risk change projects is advantageous for success in this role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed root cause analysis of complex risk events are necessary.
  • Excellent report writing abilities coupled with superior presentation skills are expected from candidates applying for this position.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including negotiation, influencing, stakeholder engagement, and diplomacy are vital for effective performance.
  • Ability to work independently while creatively assessing gaps and presenting practical solutions is important for this role.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) is required; project management skills would be beneficial.
