NQ / Associate
A social purpose firm is looking for a soon to qualify Trainee Solicitor or NQ to join their contentious disputes team. The team is dedicated to supporting charities, housing providers, care organisations, local authorities, and schools—helping them make a real difference in their communities. Based in their Manchester office, you will join a friendly, specialist group that prioritises people, collaboration, and meaningful work.
What You'll Do:
As an NQ in this highly regarded team, you will play a pivotal role in helping mission-driven organisations navigate the complexities of employment law. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing Employment Tribunal claims for Respondents by preparing documentation, handling hearings preparation, and providing advocacy where appropriate.
- Advising clients on complex employment status issues, working arrangements, and TUPE transfers so they can navigate legal requirements with confidence.
- Supporting clients with employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, whistleblowing cases, and discrimination concerns by offering practical guidance tailored to each situation.
- Engaging in regular training sessions to further develop your expertise in employment law while supporting the learning of others within the team.
What You Bring:
To excel in this team, you will bring the following:
- Soon to be, or currently qualified solicitor in England & Wales with experience in Employment Law
- A genuine interest in working on meaningful matters that contribute positively to society’s wellbeing.
- Proven ability to manage your own caseload independently while knowing when to seek support from colleagues for more complex matters.
- Strong drafting skills enabling you to prepare clear contracts of employment as well as robust HR policies tailored to client needs.
