The 2019 Finance Awards North West seeks to promote and celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the North West's finance community.

Applications are now closed for the awards and the 2019 shortlist has been announced. The 2019 event will take place on Thursday 17th October at The Hilton Manchester. Find out how to purchase your tickets here.

The awards recognise the outstanding local businesses that contribute to the economy and employment in the North West across various award categories. See below a full list of categories and awards criteria.

2019 award categories:

  • Finance Director of the Year (less than £25m turnover)
  • Finance Director of the Year (£25 - £100m turnover)
  • Finance Director of the Year (over £100m turnover)
  • Rising Star of the Year (Non/Part Qualified)
  • Rising Star of the Year (Qualified)
  • Finance Team of the Year (small – up to 5 members)
  • Finance Team of the Year (medium – 6-19 members)
  • Finance Team of the Year (large – 20 + members)
  • Financial Controller of the Year (less than £100m turnover)
  • Financial Controller of the Year (£100m+ turnover)
  • Shared Service Centre of the Year
  • Innovation in Finance
  • Diversity in Finance
 

2019 award criteria:

Finance Director of the Year

This award is split into three categories:

  • Finance Director of the Year (less than £25m turnover)
  • Finance Director of the Year (£25-100m turnover)
  • Finance Director of the Year (more than £100m turnover)

Awarded to the Finance Director with a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management. He or she must be able to provide examples of providing strategic direction to their company. 

 

Rising Star of the Year (Non/Part Qualified)

Presented to the most passionate, driven and delivery focused person in the market. The winner of the award will be a finance professional with under 5 years of experience. They must be able to provide examples of high achievement and out-performing their peer group. 

 

Rising Star of the Year (Qualified)

Presented to the most passionate, driven and delivery focused person in the market. The winner of the award will be a qualified finance professional with under 5 years of experience. They must be able to provide examples of high achievement and out-performing their peer group. 

 

Finance Team of the Year

This award is divided into three categories:

  • Finance Team of the Year (small - up to 5 members)
  • Finance Team of the Year (medium - 6-19 members)
  • Finance Team of the Year (large - 20+ members)

The Finance Team of the Year will demonstrate excellence in their field, with proven examples of collective successes within the last 12 months. The winning team may have positively impacted the wider business through outstanding achievements in the delivery of projects and encompass an infectious team spirit. 

 

Financial Controller of the Year

This award is divided into two categories:

  • Financial Controller of the Year (less than £100m turnover)
  • Financial Controller of the Year (£100m+ turnover)

Awarded to the Financial Controller with a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership, management and development. He or she must be able to provide examples of where they have driven financial control improvements across the organisation and taken a responsibility for continuous development.

 

Shared Service Centre of the Year

This award will go to a Shared Service Centre based in the North West and will be measured against the strength of business processes and people focus. We will be looking for examples of key achievements around delivery and providing exemplary customer service.

 

Innovation in Finance

The winner of this award will demonstrate the successful delivery and or implementation of activities that have led to the betterment of the Business. This can be anything from a Transformation Project or ERP upgrade through to the enhancement of people and their careers or something that improves the overall customer experience.

 

Diversity in Finance

This award recognises organisations that have reinforced their commitment to strengthening and promoting a diverse workforce, embedding equality and inclusion within their value system.

The organisation who will be awarded this category will be able to provide examples of their dedication and proactive attitude to improving the diversity in their workforce.
