This role sits at the heart of the Operations team, where your expertise will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s books and records on a T+1 basis. You will play a pivotal part in supporting trading activities across a diverse client base and product range, with exposure to multiple asset classes including Rates, Credit, Fixed Income, Listed Derivatives, FX, and Equities. What you'll do:
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of trades and positions versus prime and clearing brokers across all traded asset classes on a T+1 basis.
- Collaborate closely with front office teams, trade support colleagues, and external street counterparts to resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Monitor life cycle events such as futures expiry, first notice day (FND), physical delivery processes, dividends, coupons, and other income events.
- Take ownership of all corporate asset processing across fixed income and equity asset classes including monitoring, elections, and booking responsibilities.
- Drive process improvement initiatives by participating in new business set-ups such as onboarding prime broker and clearing broker relationships.
- Contribute to technology enhancements and vendor onboarding projects aimed at streamlining operational workflows.
- Enhance team knowledge through regular training sessions and maintenance of up-to-date procedures and policies.
- Complete event reviews with a focus on implementing risk mitigation improvements throughout the operations function.
- Prioritise tasks based on risk profile while maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide occasional coverage across the wider operations function as required to ensure seamless business continuity.
What you bring:
To excel as a Middle Office Specialist in this prestigious London-based role, you will bring proven experience from an operations background within financial services, ideally supporting hedge funds or similar institutions. Your academic foundation in a numerate discipline equips you with the analytical mindset necessary for complex reconciliations across multiple asset classes. You possess an excellent understanding of market infrastructure alongside hands-on knowledge of operational risk management techniques. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels while fostering co-operative relationships with external partners. A keen eye for detail ensures accuracy even under tight deadlines; meanwhile your enthusiasm for continuous improvement drives you to seek out opportunities for process optimisation. Familiarity with advanced Excel functions or programming languages is advantageous but not essential; what matters most is your commitment to teamwork, adaptability in fast-evolving situations, and dedication to delivering dependable results every day.
- Undergraduate degree in a numerate discipline demonstrating analytical capability relevant to financial markets.
- A sound understanding of financial markets with deep knowledge of at least one major asset class such as Rates, Credit, Fixed Income, Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETDs), Foreign Exchange (FX), or Equities.
- Proven experience (minimum three years) within an operations function supporting hedge fund or similar front-to-back processes.
- Excellent grasp of operational risk concepts along with practical experience implementing risk mitigation strategies using technology, process controls or both.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities based on risk assessment.
- Strong work ethic combined with meticulous attention to detail ensuring accuracy in all deliverables.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills suitable for engaging with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Enthusiastic approach towards learning new systems or processes coupled with flexibility to adapt within changing environments.
- Ability to work independently when required yet thrive within a collaborative team setting focused on shared goals.
- Desirable: Advanced Excel skills plus familiarity with VBA, SQL or other programming languages; cross-asset class experience spanning FI, FX, Credit, Rates or Equities.
