The 2017 West Midlands Finance Awards seeks to promote and celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the West Midlands' finance community.

The event took place at the ICC in Birmingham on Thursday 16th November 2017, and celebrated the achievements of the region’s top finance professionals. The Awards also recognise the outstanding local businesses that contribute to the economy and employment in the West Midlands across various award categories.

2017 AWARD CATEGORIES:

Finance Director of the Year

Awarded to the Finance Director with a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management. He or she must be able to provide examples of providing strategic direction to their company. 

Rising Star of the Year

This award is split into two categories, non/part-qualified and qualified.

Presented to the most passionate, driven and delivery focused person in the market. The winner of the non/part qualified award will be a finance professional with under 8 years of experience. The winner of the qualified award will be a finance professional with over 8 years of experience. They must be able to provide examples of high achievement and out-performing their peer group. 

Finance Team of the Year

This award is divided into three categories: not-for-profit, teams of 20 people or less and teams of over 20 people.

The Finance Team of the Year will demonstrate excellence in their field, with proven examples of collective successes within the last 12 months. The winning team may have positively impacted the wider business through outstanding achievements in the delivery of projects and encompass an infectious team spirit. 

Shared Service Centre of the Year

This award is divided into two categories: SSC of the Year and SSC with Outstanding People and Development.

This award will go to a West Midlands-based Shared Service Centre and will be measured against strength of processes and people. We will be looking for examples of key achievements around delivery and exemplary customer service. 

Mentor of the Year

This award will go to an individual who has acted as a mentor to another finance professional(s), and has developed, coached and inspired their mentee(s).

Business of the Year (Small/Medium)

The winner of this award will be an innovative organisation, who has achieved financial growth due to the direct and positive impact of the accounting and finance team. The winner of this award must be able to provide strategies which have driven business growth and an overview of their financial performance over the last 12 months.

To enter for this award, the business must have a site and finance function in the West Midlands. Applicants for this award must employ less than 250 employees. 

Business of the Year (Large)

The winner of this award will be an innovative organisation, who has achieved financial growth due to the direct and positive impact of the accounting and finance team. The winner of this award must be able to provide strategies which have driven business growth and an overview of their financial performance over the last 12 months.

To enter for this award, the business must have a site and finance function in the West Midlands. Applicants for this award must employ more than 250 employees.
