About the Awards
The 2018 West Midlands Finance Awards seeks to promote and celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the West Midlands' finance community.
The event will take place at the ICC in Birmingham on Thursday 15th November 2018, and will celebrate the achievements of the region’s top finance professionals. The Awards will also recognise the outstanding local businesses that contribute to the economy and employment in the West Midlands across various award categories.

- Finance Director of the Year
- Rising Star of the Year (Non/Part Qualified)
- Rising Star of the Year (Qualified)
- Finance Team of the Year (Over 20 people)
- Finance Team of the Year (20 people or less)
- Not for Profit Finance Team of the Year

2018 AWARD CRITERIA:
Finance Director of the Year
Awarded to the Finance Director with a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management. The winner must be able to provide examples of providing strategic direction to their company.
Rising Star of the Year
This award is split into two categories, non/part-qualified and qualified.
Presented to the most passionate, driven and delivery focused person in the market. The winner of the non/part qualified and the qualified award will be a finance professional with under 8 years of experience. They must be able to provide examples of high achievement and out-performing their peer group.
Finance Team of the Year
This award is divided into three categories: not-for-profit, teams of 20 people or less and teams of over 20 people.
The Finance Team of the Year will demonstrate excellence in their field, with proven examples of collective successes within the last 12 months. The winning team may have positively impacted the wider business through outstanding achievements in the delivery of projects and encompass an infectious team spirit.
Shared Service Centre of the Year
This award will go to a West Midlands-based Shared Service Centre and will be measured against strength of processes and people. We will be looking for examples of key achievements around delivery and exemplary customer service.
Business of the Year
The winner of this award will be agreed upon by the Finance Awards committee and drawn from this year's applications and nominations.
The winner of this award will be an innovative organisation, who has achieved financial growth due to the direct and positive impact of the accounting and finance team. They must be able to provide strategies which have driven business growth and an overview of their financial performance over the last 12 months.
Excellence in Diversity
This award recognises organisations that have reinforced their commitment to strengthening and promoting a diverse workforce, embedding equality and inclusion within their value system.
The organisation who will be awarded this category will be able to provide examples of their dedication and proactive attitude to improving the diversity in their workforce.
The winner of this award will demonstrate the successful delivery and or implementation of activities that have led to the betterment of the Business. This can be anything from a Transformation Project or ERP upgrade through to the enhancement of people and their careers or something that improves the overall customer experience.
