The 2017 West Midlands Finance Awards seeks to promote and celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the West Midlands' finance community.

The 2017 Awards will be launched early next year.

The event was held at the ICC in Birmingham on Wednesday 30th November 2016, and celebrated the achievements of the region’s top finance professionals. The Awards also recognised outstanding local businesses that contribute to the economy and employment in the West Midlands across various award categories. Applications are now closed. 

AWARD CATEGORIES:

Finance Director of the Year
Sponsored by GVA

Awarded to the Finance Director with a demonstrable legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management. He or she must be able to provide examples of providing strategic direction of their company. 

Rising Star of the Year
Sponsored by Robert Walters

Presented to the most passionate, driven and delivery focused person in the market. The winner of this award will be a finance professional with under 8 years of experience. They must be able to provide examples of high achievement and out-performing their peer group.

Finance Team of the Year
Sponsored by ICAEW

The Finance Team of the year will demonstrate excellence in their field, with proven examples of collective successes within the last 12 months. The winning team may have positively impacted the wider business through outstanding achievements in the delivery of projects and encompass an infectious team spirit. 

Shared Service Centre of the Year
Sponsored by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce

This award will go to a West Midlands-based Shared Service Centre and will be measured against strength of processes and people. We will be looking for examples of key achievements around delivery and exemplary customer service. 

Mentor of the Year
Sponsored by Synapse

This award will go to an individual who has acted as a mentor to another finance professional(s), and has developed, coached and inspired their mentee(s). 

Training Body of the Year 
Sponsored by Veolia 

This award will go to the training body with the strongest track record of achievement. As well as assessing pass rates, the panel will also be considering breadth of courses offered along with examples of successes of its alumni. 

Business of the Year (Small/Medium)
Sponsored by Unity Trust Bank

The winner of this award will be an innovative organisation, who has shown financial growth whilst also benefitting the West Midlands' economy through employment. To enter for this award, the business must have a site and finance function in the West Midlands. Applicants for this award must employ less than 250 employees.

*shortlisted applicants/nominees for this award will be asked to complete a detailed form rather than having a face-to-face second stage interview

Business of the Year (Large)

The winner of this award will be an innovative organisation, who has shown financial growth whilst also benefitting the West Midlands' economy through employment. To enter for this award, the business must have a site and finance function in the West Midlands. Applicants for this award must employ more than 250 employees. 

*shortlisted applicants/nominees for this award will be asked to complete a detailed form rather than having a face-to-face second stage interview
