Materials Planner

A leading FMCG business based in the Huddersfield area are looking for a Materials Planner to join their team on an initial 1 year contract with a strong likelihood to go permanent. As Materials Planner you will be responsible for managing the planning and scheduling of all resources, such as packaging and ingredients, to ensure that the plant meets the production plans and schedules.

About the role:

• Manage the stock of materials on site, ensuring that materials are always available to meet production requirements.
• Ordering all ingredients and packaging, considering lead times & shelf life
• Monitoring the sales forecast and responding to any change
• Build and maintain a Bill Of Materials spreadsheet, and then monitor daily, flagging any incorrect usages.
• Liaise with suppliers and manage all ingredient and packaging stock takes, ensuring correct stock rotation
• Prepare for new product launches and peak periods, ensuring all packaging in place to meet deadlines
• Helping avert potential service level and performance issues by escalating variances
• Tracking daily packing and preparation schedules ensuring fulfilment of the plan
• Continually tracking actual performance versus planned performance to help push corrective actions

About the person:

• Ideally degree qualified or overseas equivalent
• Previous experience working within a materials planning role within a manufacturing environment
• Previous production planning experience would be beneficial
• Excellent supplier engagement experience
• Strong understanding of MRP - SAP would be preferred with good Excel skills
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
