What you'll do:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor based in London, you will play a pivotal role in managing procurement strategies and contract administration for a portfolio of significant engineering projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing effective supply chain solutions tailored to each assignment’s needs while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will lead tendering exercises from inception through evaluation and negotiation stages, always striving for optimal outcomes that balance cost efficiency with quality. By collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across various project phases, you will help integrate commercial considerations into every aspect of project delivery. Your ability to provide guidance on NEC contracts as well as other standard forms will be essential in supporting successful outcomes. - Oversee procurement and contract administration functions for large-scale engineering and construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Develop supply chain strategies tailored to each project’s unique requirements, fostering strong relationships with suppliers and contractors.
- Lead tendering processes from initial strategy through evaluation and negotiation, ensuring value for money and robust risk management.
- Manage contract negotiations with suppliers and service providers, securing favourable terms while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Administer all aspects of contract management throughout the project lifecycle, including change control, claims management, and final account settlement.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure seamless integration of commercial activities into overall project delivery.
- Provide expert advice on commonly used model forms of contract for UK services and supplies, particularly NEC contracts.
- Support the development of procurement policies and procedures that promote efficiency, transparency, and ethical sourcing.
- Monitor market trends in engineering and construction to inform procurement decisions and maintain competitive advantage.
- Contribute to the mentoring and development of junior team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.

- Proven track record administering contracts for goods and services on complex projects in regulated process sectors is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of the UK engineering and construction market gained ideally with an engineering contractor is required.
- In-depth knowledge of all commonly used model forms of contract for UK services and supplies particularly NEC contracts is expected.
- Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with relevant procurement experience is preferable but not mandatory.
- A relevant degree in quantity surveying or a related discipline is required for this role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with internal teams as well as external partners are vital.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with attention to detail support accurate contract administration throughout project life-cycles.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical sourcing practices aligns with organisational values around transparency and fairness.
- Experience mentoring junior staff or contributing to team development initiatives would be advantageous.
