Privacy Counsel

A high-growth legal services business supporting tech-driven clients is looking to appoint a Privacy Lawyer. The firm provides expert legal support to fast-growing companies across FinTech, SaaS, AI, and emerging technologies. As part of a close-knit data & commercial team, you’ll be helping high-growth businesses navigate their privacy risks and compliance responsibilities, while building scalable solutions from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work as a fractional in-house lawyer for a range of early-stage and scaling companies, delivering practical and tailored privacy advice. You’ll support their legal and product teams on compliance projects, data risk reviews, and broader commercial initiatives.

• Advising on UK and EU data protection compliance (UK GDPR, DPA 2018, ePrivacy)

• Supporting privacy audits, DPIAs, data mapping and privacy-by-design reviews

• Drafting privacy notices, data processing agreements, and cookie policies

• Providing guidance on data risks in commercial and marketing activity

• Supporting product launches, AI tools and international data transfers

• Offering DPO-style support to clients on an ongoing basis

• Collaborating with internal specialists and external clients across the UK and Europe

What You Bring

You’re a privacy-focused lawyer who enjoys solving problems and getting stuck into the practical side of data governance. You’re commercially aware, proactive, and excited by the startup and tech space.

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)

• Strong understanding of UK data protection law and privacy frameworks

• Exposure to advising tech or SaaS clients is desirable

• Strong drafting skills (DPAs, privacy notices, policies)

• Confident working directly with clients and legal ops/product teams

• Interest in AI, digital health, or data innovation is a plus
