In House Clinical Negligence Solicitor
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor (4+ PQE) to join a highly respected medico-legal team supporting a leading academic clinical oncologist and expert witness. The role has the added benefit of no chargeable hour targets and can be completed on a fully remote basis should the successful candidate desire.
About the business:
- Work alongside a nationally recognised expert witness on high-profile clinical negligence cases in oncology and radiotherapy.
- Enjoy true flexibility – split your time between a modern Manchester office and remote working, supported by cutting-edge digital tools.
- Be part of a collaborative, inclusive culture that champions learning, development, and meaningful work.
What you'll do:
You’ll manage complex clinical negligence casework from start to finish—drafting expert reports, overseeing file prep, coordinating conferences, and ensuring seamless trial support. You’ll delegate tasks, guide junior staff, and play a key role in driving quality and efficiency across the team. Expect a mix of independent responsibility and close collaboration with legal professionals and medical experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and delivery of expert witness reports.
- Manage expert meetings, conferences, and trial prep with meticulous attention to detail.
- Monitor caseloads and case progress, liaising with solicitors and agencies.
- Supervise junior team members, provide feedback, and step in for the Head of Legal Ops as needed.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation via CRM, SharePoint, Asana, and Xero.
- Contribute ideas to improve systems, share knowledge, and support training initiatives.
What You Bring:
- Qualified Solicitor with 4+ PQE in clinical negligence.
- Strong drafting skills, especially for expert reports and court documents.
- Confident communicator with excellent organisational and supervisory skills.
- Tech-savvy – comfortable using legal and workflow systems.
- A team player who values compassion as much as competence.
What Sets This Role Apart:
This is not a typical in-house role. You’ll support a well-known medical expert at the forefront of clinical negligence, combining legal precision with real-world impact. Join a forward-thinking, inclusive team where your input matters, your growth is supported, and your work truly makes a difference.
