We are working with various leading financial institutions that are seeking experienced Employment Counsels for 6–9 month interim assignments. Based in Manchester (with hybrid working available), this is a unique opportunity to provide strategic and day-to-day employment law support within a fast-paced financial services environment. This role offers a rare chance to work at the heart of a dynamic, highly regulated business, supporting senior stakeholders on a broad range of employment law matters. You’ll play a key part in advising on high-impact issues, including strategic change programmes, litigation, and corporate transactions, all within a supportive and well-resourced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on a wide range of employment matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, restructures, and day-to-day HR queries.

  • Support corporate transactions (e.g., due diligence, employee transfers).

  • Manage contentious matters, including litigation and tribunal preparation.

  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and handbooks.

  • Provide pragmatic, commercial advice to stakeholders across legal, HR, and the wider business.

  • Monitor legislative developments and help ensure compliance in a regulated environment.

About You:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales) with strong post-qualification experience in employment law, ideally with exposure to financial services.

  • Background in private practice or in-house.

  • Strong advisory and litigation experience; able to manage complex issues with commercial insight.

  • Confident working independently and as part of a team.

  • Immediately available or available at short notice.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).

Why Join?
You’ll benefit from a well-supported secondment environment, with access to legal resources, partner oversight, and professional development opportunities through the law firm’s consultant network. Flexible working and an inclusive, collaborative culture are central to this organisation’s approach.
