Employment Principal Associate

A prestigious legal client is seeking an experienced Employment Principal Associate to join their highly regarded Employment team. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a market-leading practice, working with some of the UK’s most prominent employers. What you'll do:
As an Employment Principal Associate based in Birmingham, you will:
  • Manage a diverse caseload encompassing both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters for clients across various sectors.
  • Advise clients on all aspects of employment law including redundancy processes, disciplinary procedures, grievances, whistleblowing cases, and discrimination issues.
  • Work closely with Partners, Senior Associates, Solicitors, and King’s Counsel on significant equal pay and industrial relations projects without advocacy requirements.
  • Take responsibility for conducting the defence of Employment Tribunal claims from inception through to resolution.
  • Provide expert guidance on change management projects such as restructuring exercises, changing terms and conditions of employment, and consultation obligations.
What you bring:
To excel as an Employment Principal Associate you will bring substantial experience gained from advising on a wide range of employment law matters.
You will have:
  • At least five years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) advising on employment law matters within private practice or an equivalent setting.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage your own caseload.
  • Experience handling Employment Tribunal claims from start to finish with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Comprehensive understanding of redundancy procedures, disciplinary actions, grievance processes, whistleblowing protections, and discrimination legislation knowledge of equal pay claims or industrial relations projects is desirable.
  • Previous involvement in mentoring or supporting junior fee-earners within a collaborative team environment would be advantageous.
