Legal Counsel - Corporate, £100k

International services business headquartered in Central London are looking to add a Legal Counsel to their team, to cover a predominantly corporate/M&A remit but with general commercial & legal advisory work included also.

At this stage, this is a 12 month FTC but this is purely for ease of internal approvals. The intention is for this to be turned into a permanent role in the longer-term. Whilst the sooner someone can start the better, the business would be comfortable waiting for a candidate who needs to serve a notice period of up to three months in their current role.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week required in the Central London offices.

Joining a collegiate and high performing legal team, the Legal Counsel will enjoy a wide ranging day-to-way workload including:

• Contributing to cross-border M&A deals that the company is involved with (typically 2-3 deals at any one time)
• Due diligence; preparing heads of terms; drafting investment agreements
• Handling local regulatory complexities in different territories
• Managing relationships with external counsel
• Advising on the business’ franchising strategies in over 50 countries
• A range of other general commercial contracts work as well as advising on other legal issues such as privacy, IP and litigation

This role would be well suited to a corporate/M&A lawyer with at least 5 years’ PQE, although applications from all levels will be considered on merit. Whilst the preference is for a UK qualified solicitor, interest from foreign-qualified candidates (who have the right to work in the UK) will be considered if you have worked at a Tier 1 firm overseas.
