As a Finance and Accounting Lecturer, you will immerse yourself in a vibrant educational setting where your expertise will directly influence learner achievement. You will assess student progress through thoughtful feedback and maintain high academic standards.

  • Deliver engaging and effective teaching sessions across a variety of Accounting and Finance programmes at both further education and potentially higher education levels, ensuring all learners are supported to achieve their best.
  • Design, prepare, and update high-quality teaching materials such as lectures, seminars, tutorials, and digital resources tailored to diverse learning needs.
  • Assess student work rigorously by marking assignments, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining academic standards in line with institutional requirements.
  • Contribute actively to curriculum development by reviewing existing courses, enhancing content delivery methods, and helping create new academic programmes that reflect industry trends.
  • Participate fully in team meetings, collaborative course planning activities, and the creation of innovative learning resources that foster student engagement.
  • Support marketing initiatives by representing the institution at open evenings, employer engagement events, school liaison activities, and other promotional opportunities.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with awarding bodies, industry representatives, external verifiers, and other stakeholders to ensure programme relevance and compliance.
  • Engage in wider college or institution initiatives by attending relevant training sessions, contributing to cross-departmental projects, and supporting organisational goals.
  • Undertake teaching responsibilities across various campuses or learning centres as required to meet the needs of students throughout the region.
  • Carry out essential administrative tasks related to teaching duties while also providing pastoral care to support student wellbeing.

What you bring:

To excel as a Finance and Accounting Lecturer in this role, you will bring proven experience from either an academic or industry background where you have applied financial principles practically. Your ability to communicate clearly—both verbally and in writing—will enable you to break down complex topics into accessible lessons that resonate with learners at different stages. You are adept at building rapport with students from varied backgrounds while fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect.

  • A minimum of GCSE Mathematics demonstrating foundational numeracy skills essential for teaching finance-related subjects effectively.
  • AAT Level 4 qualification or higher which provides solid technical knowledge necessary for delivering accounting content confidently.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies or a closely related field is desirable but not essential; equivalent practical experience is highly valued.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (such as Certificate in Education or PGCE) is desirable but not essential; willingness to pursue further qualifications is encouraged.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling clear explanation of complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills paired with a collaborative approach that supports teamwork within the department.
  • Sound understanding of business and accounting principles with proven ability to apply these concepts in an educational context.
  • Experience using learning technologies and digital tools effectively to support student engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Passion for teaching demonstrated by dedication to providing excellent learning experiences for all students regardless of background or ability.
