Human Resources Advisor Salary: £30,000- £35,000 Location: Nottinghamshire (office based)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HR Advisor to join a growing organisation in the Nottinghamshire area. This full-time, on-site role offers the chance to make a real impact by supporting both managers and employees across a wide range of people-related matters. You'll play a key role in providing expert advice on employee relations, including casework such as disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, and performance concerns. You'll also support organisational changes, including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE processes, helping teams navigate change with care and clarity.

What you'll do

As an HR Advisor, you will work with the HR Business Partner to offer knowledgeable guidance on employee relations matters. You will provide clear guidance on company policies and employment law, ensuring support for managers and employees. Your ability to empathise is crucial when managing sensitive situations and supporting important organisational changes. You will also play an active role in absence management strategies, identifying trends and proposing solutions. Staying informed about employment legislation ensures accurate advice and your efforts will create a workplace where fairness, compassion, and employee value prevail.

  • Advise employees on policies, procedures, and employment legislation, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Provide professional and sensitive support to HR Business Partners across a wide range of employee relations matters.
  • Coach and develop managers to build confidence in handling people issues and applying HR practices effectively.
  • Manage complex ER cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, and appeals, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Support organisational transformations, including redundancy consultations and TUPE processes, with empathy and care.
  • Lead on absence management by tracking trends, resolving long-term cases, and implementing preventative strategies.
  • Maintain a complex ER caseload, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and efficient case resolution.
  • Help teams navigate structural changes, embedding new processes and supporting smooth transitions.
  • Stay up to date on employment law to provide compliant, practical guidance to managers.
  • Work with leadership to improve key people metrics and contribute to overall organisation performance.

What you'll bring

To succeed as an HR Advisor, you'll need solid experience navigating complex HR and employee relations issues, backed by a strong grasp of UK employment law. Equally important are your interpersonal skill, your ability to communicate with empathy and build trust which ensures effective support for both managers and employees. You're collaborative, resilient, and solutions-focused, able to manage sensitive situations and drive positive outcomes in a fair and respectful way.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law with the ability to apply it practically and accurately in the workplace.
  • Proven experience advising on employee relations within a fast-paced, collaborative HR environment.
  • Successful management of complex cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, redundancies, TUPE transfers, absence, and performance issues.
  • Strong communication skills, able to clearly explain complex information and build trust across all levels.
  • Empathetic interpersonal skills balanced with professionalism during difficult or sensitive conversations.
  • Ability to stay composed and deliver high-quality work while managing multiple priorities and sensitive cases.
  • Capable of working with stakeholders across departments to drive shared people management objectives.
