Blue screen with accountancy growth statistics

The accountancy and finance jobs market is enjoying steady, sustainable growth, with advertised vacancies up 4% nationwide in the third quarter of 2015.

The latest figures from the Robert Walters UK Jobs Index highlight the number of vacancies advertised across the UK compared to the same period last year.

According to the results, the North West saw the most robust regional increase in demand for accountancy and finance professionals with an increase of 7%, followed by London and the South east with 2% growth.

Employer confidence grows

The level of growth seen in accountancy and finance vacancies reflects increasing employer confidence in the UK economy.

Demand has been highest for professionals at the mid-junior level, with something of a skills shortage impacting employers among professionals at this level as a consequence of reduced hiring during the downturn. - Lucy Bisset, Director at Robert Walters.

The increase in permanent vacancies relative to contract roles is a further indication that employers are anticipating a sustained recovery as they become increasingly willing to make long term investments in staff.
