My client, the only Tier One investment bank in the North West, are currently hiring for a number of Finance Analyst/Financial Controllers to join their stunning campus in Chester. There are a range of positions available, from NQ up to 5+ years PQE, and all offer hybrid working (3 days in the office).

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Finance Analyst/Financial Controller to join a globally respected financial institution in Chester, offering you the chance to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and inclusive team.

The Finance Analyst/Controller will support on a specific product line, by producing all financial reporting and disclosures in partnership with senior management, front office, and other business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include applying knowledge of product, processes, and inherent risks for a product, business or function to analyse and substantiate Profit and Loss (P&L) attributes and balance sheets, assist in production of regulatory matters analysis, and perform critical testing and calculations.

What you'll do:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of financial products, market risk profiles, and risk mitigation strategies by working closely with experienced colleagues.
  • Produce and review daily and monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets, ensuring accuracy throughout the month-end close process.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to investigate complex accounting issues and provide clear resolutions in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Validate financial reporting submitted to external regulators by applying rigorous attention to detail and compliance standards.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and partner with trading teams to optimise overall business performance through data-driven recommendations.
  • Engage in ad-hoc project work aimed at driving efficiency improvements and enhancing existing routines within finance operations.
  • Participate in regulatory matters analysis by supporting critical testing procedures and calculations required for compliance.
  • Contribute to open discussions on key matters as they arise, fostering a culture of transparency and shared responsibility.
  • Support the implementation of emerging technology tools that enhance data insight capabilities for the finance function.

What you bring:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CFA) with some years PQE
  • A genuine interest in financial services combined with intellectual curiosity about how global markets operate.
  • A passion for delivering excellent service to clients while contributing positively to local communities through teamwork.
  • Personal integrity paired with accountability; you are comfortable reviewing processes collaboratively and constructively challenging where necessary.
  • Motivation coupled with meticulous attention to detail; you excel at managing multiple priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills that enable you to escalate issues responsibly when needed.
  • The ability to bring your authentic self into an inclusive workplace every day while respecting core values such as acting responsibly and trusting your team.
  • A 2:1 degree from a UK university (or equivalent) demonstrating strong academic achievement (mandatory).
  • Advanced Excel proficiency enabling you to analyse complex datasets efficiently (nice to have).
  • Understanding of financial concepts, principles, products, or relevant industry experience (nice to have), though industry-specific knowledge can be developed on the job.
