What you'll do:
As an Associate, Financial Control and Reporting, you will play an essential role in upholding robust financial controls while delivering timely and accurate reporting across multiple jurisdictions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with colleagues across Finance, Operations, Audit, and IT functions to ensure seamless month-end closes, precise reconciliations, and comprehensive regulatory submissions. You will be instrumental in supporting new product rollouts that impact accounting processes as well as participating in key system upgrade projects. Your ability to communicate effectively will enable you to build strong relationships across departments while your commitment to continuous improvement will help drive enhancements in existing processes. By providing backup support for team members and engaging in cross-training initiatives, you will contribute significantly to building resilience within the Finance function. Your proactive approach will ensure that all audit requirements are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of compliance at all times.
- Maintain the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of all aspects of financial accounting and reporting in accordance with head office policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed submissions for head office financial reporting as well as monthly and quarterly regulatory reports for authorities such as the Bank of England and PRA.
- Support the review and approval process for upfront fees, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition criteria and accurate calculations for LBO fund investments.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing periodic audit confirmations, responding promptly to associated queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to ongoing SOX-related activities by maintaining documentation, liaising with auditors, and ensuring effective completion of controls testing.
- Collaborate closely with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits to provide necessary information and resolve queries efficiently.
- Participate actively in system changes or upgrades from a finance perspective, including involvement in IT transformation projects impacting financial processes.
- Work alongside the wider Finance team and other departments to identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance controls and operational efficiency.
- Provide cover for colleagues as needed, supporting cross-training initiatives to ensure continuity within the team.
- Engage with various business units and operations teams to address issues promptly, safeguarding the accuracy of financial statements.
What you bring:
To excel as a Associate, Financial Control & Reporting, you will bring proven experience from similar roles within banking or straight from a leading audit firm with a focus on banking clients. Your technical proficiency will be matched by your interpersonal strengths; you are someone who builds trust quickly through open communication and reliability. Your attention to detail ensures that every aspect of financial reporting meets rigorous standards while your inquisitive nature drives you to seek out improvements wherever possible. You thrive when working collaboratively within diverse teams where shared goals are prioritised over individual achievement. Your ability to adapt quickly means you can respond positively to changing priorities—whether it’s supporting new product launches or embracing new technologies introduced through system upgrades. Above all else, your dedication to maintaining high standards of compliance ensures that both internal policies and external regulations are always adhered to.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification relevant to finance or accounting disciplines.
- Be fully qualified as an accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with demonstrable experience gained within banking or financial services environments or from a Big 4 audit firm.
