Role details

A leading organisation in Warwickshire is seeking a VAT and PAYE Specialist to join their dedicated finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to bring your expertise in indirect tax compliance and employment tax advisory to a company that values collaboration, professional growth, and a supportive work environment. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the business remains compliant with VAT, PAYE, and other employment-related tax regulations while also providing insightful advice to optimise tax processes and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities of the Tax Specialist

  • Provide clear and practical tax advice to internal stakeholders on a range of matters including VAT, PAYE, corporation tax, and employment taxes.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business, communicating updates effectively across relevant teams.
  • Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and responding promptly to auditor queries related to taxation.
  • Collaborate closely with finance colleagues to ensure all financial records reflect correct tax treatments and reconciliations are completed accurately.
  • Identify potential areas for tax savings or risk mitigation by conducting thorough reviews of existing practices and suggesting improvements.
  • Liaise with external advisors or HMRC as required to resolve complex queries or disputes in a professional manner.

What the successful candidate will bring

  • Professional qualification such as ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA (or working towards), reflecting your commitment to ongoing learning and excellence in your field.
  • Strong understanding of UK tax legislation including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE/NICs, enabling you to provide accurate advice across multiple areas.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-specialists at all levels of the business.
  • Proven track record of building positive relationships with both internal stakeholders and external advisors or authorities such as HMRC.
