An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a rapidly growing independent oil and gas company based in London. As Finance Manager, you will be at the heart of group accounting, reporting, treasury, and budgeting activities, working closely with senior leadership and gaining exposure to high-level decision-making processes.

As Finance Manager, you will play an integral role within a highly effective finance team that supports all facets of group accounting operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating closely with senior stakeholders—including the CFO, Head of M&A & Commercial, JV Controller—and engaging with audit committee members.

Key Remits to the role will include;

  • Oversee all aspects of group accounting activities including managing the financial period end close process and consolidation prepared by outsourced providers.
  • Support the maintenance and operation of robust internal controls while ensuring consistent application of up-to-date accounting policies across the group.
  • Prepare UK and Jersey statutory accounts in collaboration with external providers and review tax packs for compliance.
  • Produce monthly management reports, board reports, interim financials, annual group results, and ad hoc internal reports as required.
  • Assist with external audit management and provide support to investor relations regarding regulatory news service releases and presentation materials.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of the group risk register as well as inputs for audit committee packs.
  • Support M&A activity from both financial and tax perspectives alongside senior finance leaders.
  • Coordinate group budget cycles by developing guidance notes, preparing G&A budgets in consultation with executives, and implementing regular budget versus actual reviews.
  • Manage bi-monthly cash positioning and forecasting within group treasury functions; optimise cash balances across accounts; oversee bank account relationships; support onboarding of new banking tools or platforms.

You will be;

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA or CIMA)
  • Prior experience in audit—ideally gained at a Big Four firm or equivalent—will be highly regarded for this role.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in IFRS application along with knowledge of market-related reporting requirements is required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting tight deadlines is crucial for success in this environment.
  • Advanced skills using Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools are necessary for daily tasks.
  • Experience administering accounting systems (Sun system experience advantageous) is desirable for this post.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with commercial acumen are vital attributes sought after by the hiring team.
