What you'll do:
- Manage audits from planning through to completion for a range of not-for-profit clients including charities, educational institutions, grant makers, membership organisations, and professional bodies.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members by providing guidance, feedback, and support throughout audit assignments to foster their professional growth.
- Build strong relationships with clients by delivering high-quality service, understanding their unique needs, and adding value beyond compliance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Partners, Directors, Managers, and other specialists within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to each client.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit processes by sharing insights, promoting best practices, and encouraging innovation within the team.
- Act as a role model by setting high standards of professionalism and integrity that inspire colleagues at all levels within the firm.
- Engage proactively with clients on broader issues such as governance, risk management, evaluation, and organisational effectiveness.
- Support business development activities by identifying new opportunities within existing client relationships or through networking in the not-for-profit sector.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant regulatory standards while upholding the organisation’s reputation for quality and ethical conduct.
What you bring:
- A recognised accountancy qualification (such as ACA or ACCA) or equivalent experience gained within an audit environment focused on not-for-profit or charity sector clients.
- Demonstrable passion for working with charities or social purpose organisations combined with excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust among colleagues and clients alike.
- Proven experience managing audits from planning through completion including supervising teams and reviewing work produced by others.
- Strong communication abilities enabling you to explain complex financial matters clearly to non-specialist audiences while building rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service underpinned by attention to detail, reliability, and responsiveness in meeting deadlines.
- Ability to think holistically about client needs, considering wider organisational context such as governance structures or risk management frameworks when providing advice.
- Experience contributing positively within collaborative teams where knowledge-sharing is encouraged and mutual support is prioritised.
