What you'll do:
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth running of the finance function for several key business units within the Clinical & Commercial Division. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating closely with colleagues across finance, HR, payroll, operations, and commercial teams. You will be entrusted with maintaining high standards of accuracy in all month-end processes while providing meaningful insights through variance analysis. Your ability to manage complex reconciliations across multiple geographies will be essential as you help maintain robust financial controls. By supporting both routine tasks such as payment approvals and more strategic activities like audit preparation or project-based analysis, you will become a valued member of a knowledgeable team dedicated to excellence in the service delivery.
- Ensure all month-end finance tasks are completed accurately and on time to support business objectives across five distinct entities.
- Approve payments in accordance with group policy, including processing payroll bank files to guarantee smooth operations.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations for four entities operating in three different geographies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Take responsibility for the full profit and loss and balance sheet processes for European subsidiaries by liaising with local accountants regarding payroll and tax matters and posting relevant entries.
- Provide insightful variance analysis on monthly profit and loss submissions for multiple entities to inform decision-making at senior levels.
- Raise intercompany recharges and reconcile intercompany balances each month to maintain transparency and accuracy between group companies.
- Assist senior staff with both internal and external audit requirements by preparing documentation and responding to queries as needed.
- Support operations and commercial teams by delivering ad hoc financial analysis that helps drive business performance.
- Manage accruals and prepayments processes efficiently to ensure accurate financial reporting across all entities.
- Participate in monthly review calls with HR, payroll, and project managers as a trusted finance partner, offering guidance and support.
What you bring:
To excel as an Assistant Management Accountant in this role, your background should include practical experience in core accounting functions such as accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition, and project accounting. Your attention to detail will be vital when reconciling complex balance sheets or analysing variances across multiple business units. You will bring excellent interpersonal skills that allow you to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds—whether supporting HR during monthly reviews or assisting commercial teams with ad hoc analysis. Your willingness to learn new systems quickly combined with your methodical approach ensures that deadlines are met without compromising quality. - You are part-qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA or ACA qualifications, demonstrating commitment to your professional development.
- You have proven experience handling accruals and prepayments within a multi-entity environment.
- Your background includes managing accrued and deferred revenue streams effectively.
- You possess hands-on project accounting experience that enables you to support operational teams with financial insight.
- You are comfortable working with multiple profit and loss accounts across different legal entities.
- You have supported internal or external audits by preparing schedules or responding to auditor requests (desirable).
- Experience dealing with VAT returns or related compliance matters would be advantageous (desirable).
- Exposure to CSO business environments is considered beneficial (desirable).
- A valid driving licence and access to your own car are essential due to the location of the office.
