An exciting opportunity has arisen for a German Speaking Accounts Receivable Assistant to join a thriving finance team based in the heart of London. This interim, full-time position offers you the chance to make a real impact within a collaborative and supportive environment, where your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be highly valued. For the right candidate this role has the potential to go permanent.

What you'll do:

As a German Speaking Accounts Receivable Assistant, you will play an integral part in supporting the finance department’s day-to-day operations. Your primary focus will be on managing customer accounts by monitoring outstanding balances, applying payments accurately, and maintaining detailed records. You will also have the opportunity to engage directly with customers—responding to their queries about invoices or account statuses—and collaborate across teams to resolve any discrepancies. By supporting monthly reporting cycles and participating in ad hoc finance projects, you will help ensure smooth financial operations while developing your own expertise in a nurturing environment. Your fluency in German will enable you to communicate effectively with international clients, making you an invaluable member of the team.

  • Monitor customer accounts closely to identify outstanding balances and proactively follow up on overdue payments using your excellent communication skills.
  • Assist with account reconciliations by investigating discrepancies and collaborating with colleagues to ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Apply incoming payments such as bank transfers and direct debits accurately to customer accounts, maintaining meticulous attention to detail throughout each transaction.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all accounts receivable transactions, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal policies.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer queries regarding invoices or account balances, providing clear explanations and solutions as needed.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes by preparing relevant documentation and assisting with data collation for management review.
  • Assist with accounts receivable reporting tasks as well as ad hoc finance projects, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute wherever needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the organisation to resolve issues related to billing or payment processing efficiently.
  • Utilise ERP systems (such as NetSuite) for data entry, transaction tracking, and report generation, leveraging your technical skills to streamline workflows.

What you bring:

To excel as a German Speaking Accounts Receivable Assistant, you will bring proven experience from previous roles within accounts receivable or broader finance support functions. Your strong organisational abilities will allow you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy. You are comfortable using technology—including Excel for data analysis and ERP systems for transaction management—and possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to build positive relationships both internally and externally. Your fluency in German is crucial for communicating with international clients, while your educational background (or equivalent practical experience) provides a solid foundation for understanding accounting processes. Above all, your reliability, empathy towards others’ needs, and commitment to supporting team goals set you apart as an ideal candidate.
