Senior Revenue Advisor

Save job

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Senior Revenue Advisor to join a leading global law firm in London, where your expertise will directly influence the financial health and operational efficiency of a high-performing practice group. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building strong relationships, both internally and externally, while ensuring efficient billing and cash collection. Experience in a professional services setting is essential.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Revenue Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in managing the full spectrum of revenue activities for a designated practice group. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around fostering collaborative relationships with partners and fee earners to drive forward efficient billing cycles while maintaining rigorous oversight of work-in-progress balances. You will act as a trusted advisor on all aspects of billing and collections—liaising directly with clients to clarify requirements, address queries promptly, and ensure that invoices are issued accurately and on time. By monitoring key financial metrics such as NIM days and collection rates, you will identify opportunities for process improvement while mitigating risks associated with under-billing or aged WIP.

  • Collaborate closely with partners, matter managers, personal assistants, and business managers to ensure timely billing of matters and maintain optimal work-in-progress levels.
  • Provide clients with regular fee updates, proactively highlighting any out-of-scope work to ensure transparency and prevent disputes.
  • Monitor work-in-progress balances against original quotes, alerting relevant stakeholders to additional costs before billing occurs.
  • Ensure all matters are billed as soon as commercially possible or in accordance with specific fee arrangements to achieve targeted recovery rates.
  • Liaise directly with clients regarding billing details and requirements to minimise bill reversals and facilitate smooth payment processes.
  • Address eBilling rejections by working directly with legal contacts or client finance teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Act as a key contact for the eBilling team, attending regular update meetings and sharing insights to improve processes.
  • Deputise for other revenue advisors during periods of absence to ensure continuity of service within the team.
  • Support partners and matter managers by collaborating with credit controllers to chase outstanding debts in line with agreed payment terms.
  • Identify potential problem areas related to billing or collections, escalating issues appropriately to the revenue manager and recommending effective solutions.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated financial acumen with at least two years’ experience managing working capital cycles within a professional services environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of billing processes within law firms, including detailed knowledge of VAT implications and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Proven ability to build rapport across departments—fostering co-operative relationships with partners, matter managers, credit controllers, and clients alike.
  • Exceptional organisational skills enabling you to prioritise tasks effectively while meeting tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with excellent presentation abilities when preparing reports or communicating financial data.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills that facilitate clear dialogue with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SAP reporting tools is highly desirable along with general IT literacy relevant to finance systems.
  • A practical approach towards identifying marketplace trends affecting clients or firm operations—enhancing your ability to offer insightful advice during partner interactions.
