Financial Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a highly respected property investment organisation based in the City of London. You will play a pivotal part in month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, all while working closely with partners, auditors, and internal teams. Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete month-end close process for a portfolio of legal entities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded within tight deadlines.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly reporting packs, including posting journals and reconciling cash, equity, investment property, debt, and intercompany account balances.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis between actuals and budgets for multiple properties, providing clear explanations for any discrepancies identified.
- Compile monthly and quarterly VAT returns for a designated portfolio of properties in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Produce quarterly management accounts for lender compliance, board reporting, partner updates, and consolidated group reporting as needed.
- Coordinate joint venture reporting by preparing accurate quarterly reports and maintaining effective communication with joint venture partners.
- Assist in the preparation of annual business plans and present findings internally as well as to external stakeholders such as joint venture partners.
- Support the production of financial statements under IFRS for various corporate structures, including assisting with audit preparations and responding to auditor queries.
- Contribute to quarterly forecasts and annual budget cycles using advanced Excel models and reforecasting tools in collaboration with asset managers.
- Monitor bank balances regularly, prepare cash flow forecasts, ensure timely payments of interest obligations, and maintain documentation required for contributions or distributions.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Hold a university degree (BSc/BA or equivalent) with proven experience in financial accounting roles within corporate or property environments.
- Possess or be working towards an AAT or equivalent qualification; additional certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; prior exposure to JD Edwards, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), or Yardi is advantageous but not essential.
- Exhibit exceptional attention to detail coupled with a high level of accuracy when managing complex reconciliations or preparing financial statements.
- Show adaptability by thriving in environments where priorities can shift rapidly while still meeting multiple competing deadlines.
- Display excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to collaborate effectively across departments as well as liaise confidently with auditors or third-party service providers.
- Bring experience from real estate or asset management sectors if possible; however candidates from other industries who meet core requirements are encouraged to apply.
