Senior Financial Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and hands-on Interim Financial Accountant to join a dynamic finance team in a fast-paced retail/FMCG environment. This role will play a critical part during a period of business transformation and system integration, supporting both UK and European finance teams.

Working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will lead financial control processes, ensure reporting accuracy, and drive process improvements across two ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead the month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation processes.

  • Deliver insightful P&L commentary and detailed analysis on key cost areas.

  • Manage the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring timely and accurate asset accounting.

  • Oversee and support Accounts Payable processes and supplier reconciliations.

  • Conduct and review key reconciliations for AR, AP, Payroll, and general ledger accounts.

  • Collaborate across teams to improve internal controls and document financial processes.

  • Operate across dual ERP platforms, supporting system integration and reporting consistency.

  • Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed.

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to senior finance leadership.

Key Requirements:

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/CPA or equivalent).

  • Strong financial control experience within FMCG, retail, or similarly fast-paced environments.

  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud Fusion, Microsoft Business Central).

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across geographies.

  • Proven ability to manage and deliver in a dynamic, transformation-focused setting.

  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.

  • Experience in documenting financial processes and driving internal control improvements.
