Lead Java Engineer (VP) - Market Data

We are working with a leading global financial institution seeking a Lead Java engineer to help drive the development of a large scale, low latency market data platform. This role sits within a high impact data/tech function responsible for delivering real time and historical data to trading and quant teams. You will play a key role in shaping the architecture and evolution of a central data platform that underpins front office decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of a large scale market data ingestion platform
• Build and optimise low latency data pipelines for real time and historical data
• Integrate and manage market data feeds from external vendors and trading venues
• Drive improvements in data quality, validation and monitoring frameworks
• Translate business requirements from trading and quantitative teams into technical solutions
• Define and implement engineering best practices and architectural standards
• Mentor and develop a team of engineers across multiple locations
• Contribute to both hands on coding and high level system design

Key Requirements

• Strong Java engineering background with experience building enterprise scale systems
• Proven experience working with market data or trading systems within financial services
• Experience building data ingestion pipelines and handling real time data feeds
• Understanding of low latency system design and distributed architectures
• Experience integrating vendor data feeds such as Bloomberg or Refinitiv
• Ability to operate in a hands on technical role while leading and mentoring engineers
• Strong communication skills and experience working with front office stakeholders
