Application Supporting Engineer - Fixed income

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Fixed Income Production Engineer to support its front-office trading environment. This role sits close to the trading desk and is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of real-time trading systems..

Key Responsibilities

Provide rapid response to production incidents, minimising downtime and business impact
Lead root cause analysis and conduct blameless post-incident reviews
Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability capabilities
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and operational risk
Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and technology teams during incidents
Partner with development teams to design and deploy scalable, resilient systems
Ensure adherence to change, incident, and problem management processes
Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement

Skills & Experience

Experience in Production Support, SRE, or DevOps within a financial services or trading environment
Strong understanding of Fixed Income products and the end-to-end trading lifecycle
Hands-on experience with:

• Linux/Unix systems
• SQL and database technologies (e.g. Oracle)
• Scripting/programming (Python, Java, or similar)
• FIX protocol (Financial Information Exchange)

Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Geneos, OpenTelemetry, Corvil

Familiarity with modern engineering practices including:

• Cloud platforms
• Containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
• CI/CD pipelines
