Engineering Manager (Start-Up) - Outside IR35

£550–£750 per day (Outside IR35)

This is a people-first Engineering Manager role with no expectation to be hands-on day-to-day. You'll lead, coach and develop a talented engineering team while partnering with Product and the CTO to deliver an ambitious product roadmap in a fast-paced, collaborative SaaS environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching and career development.
• Own engineering delivery, from sprint planning and backlog refinement through to successful release.
• Partner with Product and the CTO to scope work, prioritise delivery and manage technical risks.
• Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, collaboration and ways of working.
• Play a key role in hiring, interviewing and growing the engineering team.
• Champion AI-enabled engineering tools and modern software development practices.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a SaaS or product-led environment.
• Strong delivery and stakeholder management skills with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) experience.
• A passion for developing people and building high-performing engineering cultures.
• Experience hiring and scaling engineering teams.
• An advocate of AI-assisted engineering, with an interest in embedding AI tools and workflows across the software development lifecycle.
