Microsoft Messaging Engineer - 12 month FTC

The Role
The Microsoft Messaging Engineer will be responsible for the design, delivery and operational support of the firm’s global messaging and collaboration platforms.
This role focuses on Microsoft-based email infrastructure, archiving, security and cloud collaboration technologies. You will act as a senior escalation point within the Messaging team, contribute to ongoing modernisation initiatives, and ensure high availability across business-critical systems in a demanding legal environment.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract based in London.
Key Responsibilities

Design, build and support enterprise messaging services including email, archiving and collaboration platforms

Manage and optimise Microsoft Exchange (on-prem and Online) environments

Contribute to messaging transformation and improvement projects

Evaluate new technologies to enhance service performance, resilience and cost efficiency

Act as a senior technical escalation point for messaging-related incidents

Resolve issues in line with agreed service levels and governance standards

Perform preventative maintenance and manage upgrades/patching cycles

Communicate planned maintenance effectively to IT teams and business stakeholders

Maintain high-quality documentation and system records

Ensure compliance with IT policies, governance frameworks and licensing requirements

Collaborate closely with Service Desk, Infrastructure and Security teams

Experience Required

Strong experience supporting enterprise Windows Server and Active Directory environments

3+ years’ hands-on Microsoft Exchange experience (2019 or SE)

Experience managing Exchange Online and hybrid deployments

Knowledge of enterprise email archiving platforms

Understanding of email security, filtering and compliance frameworks

Experience within a high-availability, business-critical environment

Professional services or legal sector experience desirable

Microsoft certifications advantageous
