Director - AI Enablement

An established global organisation is building a next-generation AI capability and is hiring a Director of AI Enablement to lead the infrastructure, tooling and engineering foundations that power large-scale model development. This is a rare opportunity to build and scale AI infrastructure from the ground up within a well-funded, long-term AI transformation programme.

The Role

You will lead the engineering backbone that enables AI scientists and ML engineers to:

• Train large-scale foundation models

• Deploy research into production

• Iterate faster through robust experiment tracking and model lifecycle tooling

• Access, harmonise and version complex multimodal datasets

• Scale securely and cost-effectively in cloud and hybrid environments

You will build and lead a high-calibre team across AI infrastructure, MLOps and data engineering, while shaping best practice across ML engineering and platform operations.

This is both strategic and hands-on. You will influence AI strategy at leadership level while owning delivery of distributed training platforms, model registries, fine-tuning tooling and scalable deployment frameworks.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years leading ML infrastructure or AI platform engineering teams

• Deep experience in distributed training environments (PyTorch DDP, DeepSpeed, Ray or similar)

• Strong Python engineering foundations with production discipline

• Experience building cloud-native ML platforms (AWS/Azure)

• Expertise across MLOps, model lifecycle management and AI governance

• Strong stakeholder skills in complex, cross-functional environments

Experience in scientific, research or computationally intensive environments is advantageous but not essential.
