Senior Perception Engineer - Spatial AI
Our client is at the forefront of redefining the future of construction through pioneering Augmented Reality hardware and software solutions. They are creators of the world's first engineering-grade AR headset, pushing boundaries in spatial computing, cutting-edge optics, AI, SLAM, and computer vision. Their bold goal is to eliminate construction rework entirely by building intelligent AR systems that learn and adapt to the real world automatically. They are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Senior Perception Engineer with a background in computer vision and scene understanding to join their growing R&D team.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Perception Engineer, your mission will be to make spatial AI truly aware — interpreting scenes, recognizing structures, and managing data in dynamic environments. You'll play a pivotal role in developing our client's core perception stack — an intelligent, AI-powered system for real-time construction site understanding. Your work will directly contribute to eliminating construction rework entirely by creating self-learning AI models capable of interpreting dynamic construction environments.
- Lead the design and implementation of advanced perception algorithms focused on semantic understanding, spatial awareness, and adaptive learning.
- Architect and optimize robust multi-modal sensor fusion pipelines, integrating visual, depth, and inertial data for real-time 3D environmental modeling.
- Drive the development of self-learning AI models capable of interpreting dynamic construction environments.
- Spearhead the integration of perception systems into scalable AR platforms, focusing on performance across edge and embedded compute environments.
- Mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams across navigation, hardware, cloud, and UX to deliver cohesive, production-ready solutions.
- Guide research-to-product translation by evaluating emerging methods in machine learning, federated learning, and computer vision for applicability to our system.
- Influence technical strategy and roadmap planning by contributing domain expertise in AI-driven perception, scene understanding, and evolving techniques.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Senior Perception Engineer role will bring a strong background in computer vision and scene understanding. You'll have proven experience in designing and implementing advanced perception algorithms, optimizing sensor fusion pipelines, and developing self-learning AI models. Your proficiency in Python and C++, coupled with your familiarity with real-time systems and hardware acceleration, will be crucial to your success in this role. Your ability to work autonomously, yet collaborate effectively across teams, will enable you to contribute significantly to our client's mission of redefining the future of construction.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Vision, Robotics, Machine Learning, Geomatics or related field. PhD is a plus.
- Proficient in Python and C++, with experience in computer vision frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Solid understanding of SLAM , 3D perception, and point cloud processing.
- Hands-on experience with image segmentation , scene classification , or instance detection .
- Familiarity with real-time systems and hardware acceleration (CUDA, GPUs, NPUs or embedded systems).
- Knowledge of ROS, sensor fusion, and spatial coordinate systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work autonomously and collaborate remotely across teams.
