Position Overview:

The BioTech Start-up is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Deep Learning Director to lead their AI strategy and spearhead the growth of their AI and deep learning team. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of medicinal treatment through the application of artificial intelligence. The Deep Learning Director will have a chance to work on groundbreaking deep learning models and contribute to the company's mission.

You'll be an expert on a wide variety of machine learning techniques and technologies, with some tangible experience applying them to biotechnology related problems, preferably through both the R&D and engineering lens. A key factor they are looking for is a deep level of understanding when it comes to Neural network architecture, transformer models and ideally you'll be tuned into the latest advancements in deep learning coming out of academia. A Bioengineering/bioinformatics/computational biology/chemistry background through either a PhD or commercial role with be desired, as you'll have a unique view of the problems faced when applying Deep Learning to the medical domain. However they are equally as keen in looking at people with Computer Science/Machine Learning backgrounds, as a strong fundamental understanding of deep learning at it's core is highly necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the company's AI and deep learning strategy to advance medicinal treatment discovery.
• Lead and expand a team of talented data scientists and machine learning engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive AI-driven projects and research.
• Design, implement, and optimize deep learning models for genomics data analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and genomics to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
• Present findings and developments to stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Collaborate with academic and industry partners to leverage external expertise.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a relevant field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, etc.).
• Proven experience in leading AI and deep learning projects in a professional setting.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python and proficiency in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
• A deep understanding of genomics sequencing technologies and their application in medicine.
• Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Prior experience in BioTech or a related field is a plus.
