I’m recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing Biotechnology start-up based out of central London. My client have developed a platform that utilizes computational approaches to design vaccines. Their aim is to revolutionise vaccine design – and considering they’re founded by some of the pioneering members of current computational approaches to vaccine design, they are well on their way. This is a hybrid role based out of their central London research facility. However, really it’s remote first as you’ll only be needed here twice a quarter max. The company have just finished their series A round, and are looking to double in size over the next year or so. They already have vaccines in the late stages of clinical trials, and have a solid overall set-up in terms of commercial revenue VS pure research and development.
The role itself is fundamentally a computational biology role, comprising of bioinformatics and various computational biology approaches to vaccine design. However, the added layer in this is that it’s also a Machine Learning role, where you’ll be using ML techniques on the pipelines and sequences created by you and the rest of the team. You’ll be the lead on implementing ML here and will have a skill-set that is fundamentally R&D focused, with an emphasis on model design/algorithmic design. You’ll be working with experimental biologists, bioinformaticians and software engineers to evangelize ML across the business, researching new use cases and implementing them as is seen fit.

Required Skills
A fundamental understanding of bioinformatic processes and their applications with Machine Learning.
A track record of building/implementing algorithms to analyse and interpret biological data.
Experience developing with PyTorch/Tensorflow and ML/AI principles and be able to optimize the resulting models.
Experienced in programming in Python and Linux command line.
Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Candidates with a Master's degree and significant relevant experience will also be considered.
Knowledge of protein structure modelling is desirable.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualisation techniques
