My client are in search of a highly motivated and talented Bioinformatician to join their dynamic team. The role demands an advanced scientific understanding of mass spectrometry software and proteomics data, as well as a strong background in applying machine learning models to differentiate between disease states. You'll be joining the Machine Learning team, working as at the intersection of Bioinformatics and Machine Learning.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing bioinformatics strategies for processing and analyzing high-throughput mass spectrometry and proteomics data.
• Applying statistical and computational methods to extract meaningful insights from complex data, including protein identification, quantification, and differential expression analysis.
• Developing advanced machine learning techniques to uncover hidden patterns in complex biological systems.
• Applying statistical analysis and feature selection techniques to enhance model interpretability and generalization.
• Collaborating in the integration of machine learning tools and pipelines into the research and development process to streamline biomarker discovery efforts.
• Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, mass spectrometry, and proteomics, and applying relevant methodologies to drive innovation within the team.
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including biologists, machine learning scientists, and regulatory clinicians.
• Effectively communicating results and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and collaborative discussions.

Qualifications:

• Either a PhD or at least 4 years of work experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with bioinformatic tools for processing mass spectrometry data.
• High level of demonstrable experience programming in Python, with relevant frameworks/libraries.
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, feature engineering, and model interpretation in the context of biological data.
• Experience in mass spectrometry batch effect normalization.

Optional Assets:

• Experience with cloud environments, such as AWS.
• Experience with both unsupervised and supervised learning.
• Proficiency in probabilistic modeling and statistical inference.
• Experience in feature engineering, particularly in the context of classification tasks in high-dimensional, low sample size datasets.
• Experience with imbalanced datasets.
