BI Developer

An established retailer based just outside of Manchester City Centre are currently looking for a BI Developer to join the team out of growth. This role is designed to assist in creating an enterprise Business Intelligence function within the business, primarily based around data modelling as well as structuring data for the data model. They will also be tasking with assisting the Senior Business Intelligence Developers and Data Architects in the creation of an accurate and performant data platform through such tools as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Power BI aswel as potentially upcoming tools such as MS Fabric.

Key responsibilities:
• The ability to build data models based of predefined data structures, to develop and maintain DAX calculations for measures and calculated columns within Power BI and the ability to produce accurate and meaningful reports.
• To assist with the development of database objects and manipulate and structure data, so that it can be easily used within reporting data models.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications and help manage the development backlog and contribute to Agile development frames works such as Sprint planning as well as developing technical documentation.
• Assist with the maintenance of ETL and ELT data pipelines and assist with performance improvements within the ETL process and within the database.
• Help evaluate and improve the current reporting strategy in order to keep the business moving forwards with best practice and appropriate new technologies.
• Be part of a strong centre of Business Intelligence excellence and contribute to Data Governance and Quality processes and frameworks.

The successful BI Developer will have the following experience:
• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modelling) and data mining
• In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
• Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
• Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative

The role is offering a salary of up to £50,000 in addition to a range of benefits and store discount. The business operate a hybrid working pattern, with the need to visit the office circa 2-3 days per week The office is easily accessible via tram and there is on-site parking available.
