VAT Consultant - 6 Month Day rate contract
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Value Added Tax (VAT) Consultant for a six-month contract based in London. This role is an integral part of the Corporate Tax and VAT team, offering an opportunity to contribute within a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the business maintains its status as a compliant and responsible tax payer.
What you'll do:
As a Value Added Tax Consultant, you will be engaged in a variety of tasks that are crucial to the financial operations of the company. You will collaborate with different departments, including Finance, Logistics, Marketing, and European finance and legal teams, to ensure accurate VAT treatments. Your expertise will be vital in managing relationships with external VAT advisers, providing technical support across the business, and identifying potential opportunities and risks related to VAT. You will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing VAT returns for UK and Irish registrations. Updating internal policies and procedures as necessary will also fall under your responsibilities.
- Collaborate with various teams to understand correct VAT treatments and accounting for business transactions.
- Manage relationships with external VAT advisers.
- Provide responses to queries from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs on all VAT related matters.
- Provide technical support across the business.
- Monitor and identify VAT opportunities and risks for the business.
- Prepare and review the VAT returns for UK and Irish VAT registrations.
- Update internal policies and procedures as required.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Value Added Tax Consultant role is someone who can build strong relationships across various teams, helping them understand the implications of VAT on their operations. You should be able to work independently, meeting deadlines without requiring close supervision. Being ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified or having significant indirect tax experience is essential for this role. Experience dealing with indirect tax implications related to selling goods, especially cross-border supplies, is highly desirable. A sound understanding of UK VAT legislation and compliance issues is expected, along with knowledge of accountancy for VAT purposes.
