An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Indirect Tax Manager to join a leading global asset management and banking firm. This role offers the chance to work at the intersection of business, finance, and technology, managing trillions of dollars in assets. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is responsible for providing indirect tax advice across all locations where the company operates. This role is based in London and offers a hybrid working model.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Indirect Tax Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing UK VAT compliance, collaborating with various teams to ensure smooth operations. You will be responsible for evaluating business change initiatives and advising on regional VAT implications. Your role will also involve staying updated with changes in VAT legislation/new indirect tax regimes and designing new processes accordingly. You will have the opportunity to provide indirect tax advice and training to Technology and Finance teams while identifying opportunities for process improvements.

  • Manage UK VAT compliance, including reviewing VAT returns, identifying risks, implementing controls, minimising VAT liabilities/compliance issues, and responding to HMRC queries
  • Collaborate with outsourced tax compliance provider and regional Finance teams to manage indirect tax compliance in the EMEA region
  • Evaluate business change initiatives and advise on regional VAT implications
  • Provide VAT advice on adhoc queries regarding new products, client and vendor contracts, and discreet projects
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in VAT legislation/new indirect tax regimes
  • Design and implement new processes and procedures to adhere to applicable laws
  • Provide indirect tax advice and training to Technology and Finance teams
  • Identify opportunities to optimise VAT reporting, manage VAT risk, and deliver process improvements

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Indirect Tax Manager role will be a qualified ACA / ACCA / CTA (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years tax experience in a large group environment or advisory firm. You should have a strong UK VAT technical background, some EU VAT knowledge and system automation experience ideally in the financial services sector. Excellent written and verbal skills are essential for communicating VAT matters to wider non-VAT audiences. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft office, particularly excel, is required and experience with Oracle ERP would be beneficial. The successful candidate will be highly organised, able to manage competing demands and work to demanding deadlines.
