The Company:
My client is a well-funded, international SaaS Scale-Up that is now entering the UK and looking for their first 3 x Business Development Managers. They are a leading provider of background verification software, allowing businesses to make accurate hiring decisions.
Role Overview:
As a Business Development Manager (BDM) you will be responsible for generating and closing new business opportunities by identifying, contacting, and qualifying potential clients. Your primary focus will be on selling their background verification software to companies based in England and the broader UK market. You will be working a hybrid model, with the flexibility to work remotely and be present in our London office for key meetings and collaboration.
Please note 2+ years SaaS closing experience is a requirement!
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and prospect new business opportunities through a variety of lead generation methods (cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, etc.).
- Conduct market research to target companies in need of background verification solutions.
- Engage with decision-makers (HR leaders, C-suite, compliance teams) to understand their business needs and position the company's solutions as the ideal fit.
- Qualify leads and arrange product demos for the sales team.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to drive pipeline growth.
- Track all customer interactions in the CRM and manage sales activity metrics (calls, emails, meetings, etc.).
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and regulatory changes in the background verification space.
- Participate in industry events, networking, and conferences to expand market presence.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a sales development or business development role, preferably in the SaaS/software industry.
- Strong understanding of the UK market, especially within B2B sales.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with senior decision-makers.
- Self-motivated, driven, and eager to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and sales enablement tools.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Based in or willing to commute to London for in-person meetings as part of the hybrid work model.
