You’ll work on a mix of market risk and technology-driven projects including stress testing, dashboard and model building, automation, and daily risk reporting/P&L.

Senior Market Risk Analyst – Quantitative & Technology Focus
Location: London

A leading international energy trading desk is seeking a Senior Market Risk Analyst to join its London-based risk and analytics team. This is a hybrid market risk and analytics role, combining traditional risk oversight with hands-on development of risk automation, dashboards, and process improvements across a dynamic product set including oil, gas, and biofuels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily market risk oversight, including P&L reporting, analysis of positions, and monitoring of key risk metrics (VaR, stress tests, scenario analysis).

• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, models, and automated processes using Python, SQL, VBA, and visualization tools such as Power BI.

• Deliver effective risk analysis and insights to traders and senior management, ensuring robust risk controls and reporting.

• Support continual enhancement of risk systems and data management in collaboration with technology and trading teams.

Candidate Profile:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in market risk analysis, ideally within energy trading or commodities.

• Advanced programming and quantitative skills (Python, VBA, SQL), and experience with visualisation/dashboarding platforms.

• Solid understanding of risk concepts—including VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.

• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to present technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

• Proactive, detail-oriented, and team-focused approach.
