We are working with an energy trading and commodities firm, looking for a Senior Market Risk Analyst to join its London office. This newly created role will support the Market Risk team with hands-on risk analysis, daily reporting, and model enhancement across a wide range of traded products.

The ideal candidate will have between 3 and 5 years’ experience in market risk, gained within energy, commodity, or financial trading environments. Sharp analytical skills, familiarity with coding (Python preferred), and a proven record of independent problem solving are highly valued. A good degree from a recognised institution is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily market risk reporting and data validation for trading desks

• Conduct analysis and commentary on P&L, VaR, sensitivities, stress testing, and scenario results

• Investigate and explain risk moves and P&L drivers with senior stakeholders and front office teams

• Support the enhancement of risk tools, dashboards, and reporting processes, leveraging coding skills for automation and modelling (Python highly advantageous)

• Collaborate with traders, operations, and product control to ensure accurate risk capture and support new business initiatives

• Stay abreast of market, regulatory, and risk developments across energy, commodities, and financial products

Candidate Profile:

• 3–5 years’ direct market risk experience in trading, commodities, energy, or financial services

• Hands-on exposure to risk modelling, analysis, and risk reporting

• Python or other programming/coding ability (preferred, not essential)

• Graduate from a leading university, with a strong quantitative or financial background

• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

• Candidates with experience in other commodities (e.g. metals, agriculture, oil) are encouraged to apply
