Mid-Market Corporate Credit Risk
Locations: Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham

I am looking for experienced credit risk professionals, supporting relationship teams with high-quality analysis across a diverse portfolio of UK mid-sized corporates.

The role

  • Assess new lending proposals and annual reviews for mid-market corporates, typically with complex banking needs and multi‑product facilities.

  • Analyse historic and forecast financials, cashflows, business plans and sector dynamics to form independent views on creditworthiness and downside risk.

  • Structure and recommend appropriate facilities (term loans, RCFs, overdrafts and ancillary lines), covenants and security packages within risk appetite.

  • Prepare clear, succinct credit papers for sanction, highlighting key strengths, risks, mitigants and recommended conditions.

  • Monitor an allocated portfolio, identifying early warning indicators, recommending remedial actions and supporting restructurings where required.

Requirements

  • A solid grounding in credit risk, underwriting or corporate banking, with evident progression in responsibility over time (e.g. from analyst to taking ownership of cases).

  • Strong financial analysis skills, including interpretation of statutory accounts, management information and cashflow forecasts.

  • Comfortable forming independent credit opinions and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • Good knowledge of UK lending products, security and covenant structures, and an understanding of relevant regulatory and conduct requirements.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to challenge constructively and work collaboratively with front‑office teams.
