An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Acceptance Analyst to join a highly respected international law firm in London, where your expertise will be pivotal in supporting the firm's risk and compliance framework.

  • Join a large, friendly Business Acceptance team based in London with colleagues across the UK and Asia, providing support on all aspects of client and matter opening including conflict checks, AML due diligence, and sanctions compliance.
  • Benefit from a culture that values collaboration, inclusivity, and professional development where over 70% of work involves cross-team cooperation internationally, ensuring you are always connected to a wider network.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities within an organisation recognised for its commitment to diversity and inclusion, including support for disability, neurodiversity, mental health needs, and ongoing participation in the Mansfield Rule UK initiative.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant processes, policies, procedures, and industry standards related to business acceptance within the legal sector.
  • Advise personal assistants (PAs), fee earners, and partners on best practices regarding client matter opening procedures to ensure compliance with internal guidelines.
  • Handle incoming administrative queries from across the firm through dedicated helplines and inboxes, providing clear guidance on client and matter opening processes.
  • Collaborate occasionally with Accounts, Cashiers, Marketing & Business Development, Financial Systems, and IT departments to facilitate smooth onboarding of clients and matters.
  • Deliver training sessions to PAs on business acceptance procedures and filing open protocols to promote consistency across teams.
  • Review new client and matter forms meticulously to ensure all required details are complete; proactively query unclear or incomplete information as needed.
  • Conduct thorough conflict searches using the firm’s conflict database; analyse results carefully to manage conflict resolution effectively.
  • Liaise directly with Partners and Fee Earners on potential legal or commercial conflicts by gathering relevant information to assess whether conflicts exist.
  • Escalate complex legal or commercial conflicts according to established internal escalation routes while maintaining accurate records for audit purposes.
  • Undertake research on new and existing clients using data provider software; analyse corporate structures to identify ultimate beneficial ownerships including complex scenarios.

What you bring:

  • At least one year’s experience working within a Risk & Compliance function ideally involving exposure to conflicts management or AML processes.
  • Demonstrated experience as an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills who can tailor communication style appropriately for diverse audiences including non-native English speakers.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with organisational skills that enable you to manage multiple priorities efficiently within a busy environment.
  • A conscientious approach marked by methodical analysis skills; able to recognise when issues need escalation and follow appropriate channels accordingly.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts quickly; adaptable mindset ready to embrace evolving responsibilities as the role develops over time.
  • Genuine interest in risk management and compliance functions within professional services environments such as law firms or financial institutions.
  • Proficiency with essential applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook; familiarity with Intapp is advantageous but not essential for success in this role.
  • Openness towards process improvement initiatives; receptive to suggestions that enhance efficiency or effectiveness across the team.
