Regulatory Risk VP
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Regulatory Risk Vice President to join a globally respected FI. The role is designed for someone who thrives on building strong relationships, enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues across EMEA, APAC, and North America, and is passionate about enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of regulatory compliance programmes worldwide.
What you'll do:
As Regulatory Risk Vice President based in London, you will be at the forefront of global risk management initiatives. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with both Canadian and UK-based teams as you work to enhance the visibility of regulatory findings worldwide. You will act as a bridge between Toronto’s Regulatory Risk function and regional teams across EMEA and APAC, ensuring that information flows seamlessly and that best practices are shared consistently. Your expertise will be called upon to support business units through complex regulatory examinations—preparing documentation, tracking deliverables, coordinating responses—and you will play an instrumental role in developing insightful reports that inform decision-making at the highest levels. By leading regular meetings with global leaders, preparing briefings for executive committees, monitoring daily regulatory changes, and managing communications with key stakeholders internally and externally, you will help shape the organisation’s approach to compliance while supporting ongoing remediation efforts. Your ability to analyse deliverables against rigorous standards will ensure that all obligations are met efficiently. In this highly visible role, your contributions will directly influence how regulatory risk is managed across continents.
- Support business units and functions in preparing for regulatory examinations by various global regulators, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Assist with the end-to-end regulatory examination process by preparing documents, monitoring deliverables, tracking progress, and collating submissions for timely delivery to regulators.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) programme requirements and assist teams in meeting these obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Produce monthly regulatory reports covering key developments with regulators in Europe and Asia Pacific, providing valuable insights for internal stakeholders.
- Lead monthly global regulatory risk meetings with senior leaders to discuss emerging issues, share updates, and drive alignment across regions.
- Prepare briefing notes and summaries of regulatory speeches or public statements for onward distribution to executive committees and boards.
- Monitor global regulatory changes daily by gathering news updates and publishing them promptly each morning for the benefit of the wider team.
- Proactively track the status of all internal and external deliverables, analysing quality against requirements, escalating issues where necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
- Organise communications with regulators, industry associations, and business units within the EAP region in coordination with established communication roles.
- Support regular reporting requirements as well as informal requests from regulators to maintain consistency and timeliness in all submissions.
What you bring:
To excel as Regulatory Risk Vice President you will bring significant experience from within financial services risk management environments. Your background should include hands-on involvement with regulatory compliance matters—ideally gained through direct interaction with supervisory teams or through managing complex frameworks spanning multiple jurisdictions. You possess not only technical expertise but also strong interpersonal skills that enable you to build trust-based relationships across cultures and geographies. Your approach is methodical yet flexible; you thrive when balancing multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of critical details. You communicate effectively at all levels—from preparing concise executive briefings to facilitating open dialogue during cross-regional meetings—and your analytical mindset ensures that every submission meets exacting standards. Familiarity with non-financial risks would be beneficial but your primary strength lies in navigating the intricacies of regulatory risk. Above all else, your commitment to collaboration sets you apart: you understand that success comes from working together towards shared goals while remaining responsive to changing priorities.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in risk management within the financial services sector is essential for success in this role.
- Demonstrated project management skills with proven ability to coordinate complex deliverables across multiple regions are required.
- Exceptional organisational skills enabling you to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail are crucial.
- Previous experience building effective relationships with internal stakeholders or external supervisory bodies is highly valued.
- Ability to excel within a collaborative team environment while also being comfortable working independently when needed is important.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills allowing you to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences are necessary.
- A deep understanding of regional regulatory requirements—particularly those relevant to EMEA, UK, APAC—and familiarity with supervisory frameworks is expected.
- Experience delivering compliance remediation programmes or supporting large-scale programme delivery is considered essential.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint for producing high-quality reports and presentations is required.
- Adaptability to evolving environments where accountabilities may shift over time is important; experience influencing change or building consensus is advantageous.
