UK Life Tax – Project Manager (Contract) London or Scotland | Hybrid | 6–8 Month Contract | ASAP Start

We’re supporting a major financial services organisation on a UK Life Tax software conversion programme and are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery through to go-live by July/August 2026.

This is a hands-on role managing a new vendor solution, overseeing testing and reconciliation between legacy and new systems, and working directly with multiple life insurance clients.


The role

You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of a UK Life Tax technology implementation, managing people, data, vendors and clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the implementation of a new UK Life Tax system, replacing legacy technology

  • Managing a delivery programme covering 800–900 life funds across 4–5 clients

  • Owning the project plan, milestones, risks and delivery timelines

  • Managing and coordinating a test team of 3–4 people

  • Comparing, validating and reconciling outputs from old vs new systems

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and issues through to go-live

  • Liaising closely with the software vendor and internal tax stakeholders

  • Escalating delivery risks, issues and dependencies appropriately

  • Providing clear, regular status updates to senior stakeholders


What we’re looking for

  • Strong UK Life Tax experience with capital gains tax knowledge essential

  • Proven experience delivering system / software conversion projects

  • Background managing testing, reconciliation and data validation workstreams

  • Confident leading teams and working directly with external clients

  • Strong analytical capability, particularly around tax in pricing and tax accruals

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience working with UK life assurers / life funds highly desirable

  • Location: London or Scotland (flexible for the right person)

  • Contract: 6–8 months initially, with potential extension

  • Start: ASAP

  • Working pattern: Hybrid


If you’re a delivery-driven Project Manager with deep UK Life Tax and CGT experience and have led software conversions in regulated environments, this is a strong, high-impact contract through to mid-2026.
